First Steps Nursery in Irvine is looking for a catering assistant to support our experienced cook. The hours of work are 9am to 3.30pm on Thursdays and Fridays (with flexibilty around school hours if necessary).

The role also includes an additional 100 hours throughout the year on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (also 9am to 3.30pm) to cover the cook's holidays.

Duties

Prepare and serve food for nursery children following menus and recipes planned by the cook, taking into account allergies and food intolerances

Ensure all food safety guidelines are followed during food preparation and service

Keep kitchen clean and organised

Clean all catering and kitchen equipment

Communicate with nursery staff

**Skills**:
Previous experience in a nursery, care home or other group catering environment is preferred

Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations (food hygiene training will be provided)

Understanding of allergies, food intolerances and dietary requirements

Friendly and caring personality with a genuine interest in working with young children

Ability to work in a fast paced and often noisy environment

Flexibility to cover the cook's holidays throughout the year on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £11.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 per week
