Watford Mencap is a local charity providing support for children and adults with learning disabilities. We offer a range of projects from residential care, supported living, community care. We are recruiting for each of our three adult homes in Watford, Rickmansworthand Chorleywood.

What does this Support Worker job involve?
We are seeking enthusiastic workers to support children and adults with Learning Disabilities. We want the people we support to be happy, independent and live a full life and we need your help to achieve this. It's no ordinary job and every day can be different.Most importantly it's about offering opportunities for people to experience things that many of us take for granted.

You will enable people to be more independent and try new things.
You will be supporting people to do everyday tasks such as preparing meals and housekeeping.
You will be empowering people going to the shops; to clubs; to the cinema or theatre, or just for a cup of coffee with friends.
You will be working in a small, committed and relaxed team.
This role can be both rewarding and challenging as you support people with their everyday needs, communication and assisting them to maintain their emotional health and general wellbeing.

Am I the right person for this Support Worker job?
Experience of working in health and social care is not essential. More importantly, we are looking for people with the right values.
We are looking for someone that feels passionately about all people being given an opportunity to live life to the full. They must be enthusiastic; caring; able to communicate and have a sense of humour We want our clients to have fun and to experience thingsthat we take for granted.
Being a driver is an advantage (but not essential for the residential and supported living projects) as that can help people with limited mobility to get out and about.
