**Job summary**:

- The Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government is seeking an Information Assurance Officer within its Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) team, part of the Digital Information and Data Directorate. The KIM team is responsible for managing the department’s knowledge and information, including ensuring compliance with the Public Records Act and other information rights legislation.

You will be part of a varied team, liaising closely with the wider KIM team and with stakeholders across the department. You will work particularly closely with data protection and security colleagues to promote good information management practices and to support the department’s information assurance responsibilities, ensuring that information is managed, shared and protected effectively in line with statutory and government requirements. This will involve engaging with the department’s network of ‘Information Subject Matter Experts’, who are responsible for managing the department’s information assets at a team level.

You will also have opportunities to plan and deliver information assurance awareness sessions and contribute to guidance. You will have KIM experience and excellent digital literacy and will enjoy working independently and with a range of people. You will be enthusiastic about the benefits of KIM and able to actively promote good practice.

You will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Teams and SharePoint, and will keep up to date with changes to these systems and how these will impact on KIM within the department.

**Job description**:

- As an Information Assurance Officer you'll:

- Respond to requests for advice on information security, information sharing and information asset management
- Support the Information Sharing Manager in developing the KIM information sharing service offer, including the triage of service desk requests for new sharing workspaces
- Support the Information Assurance Manager in establishing and maintaining the annual asset management cycle and deliver the Information Subject Matter Expert network comms plan, as well as support with any other information asset management awareness initiatives
- Coordinate the response to information breaches, offer guidance when notified of a breach, and report to senior management and other teams
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the department, particularly data protection and security colleagues
- Contribute to the development of procedures and guidance to ensure information assets are adequately protected and information is managed and shared in accordance with relevant legislation and cross-government guidelines
- Keep accurate records of information assurance activities, including advice provided to policy areas, process documentation, reports of information breaches and other information assurance resources
- Plan and deliver information assurance specific awareness sessions
- Work with the wider KIM team to continually improve the services offered to the department
- Contribute to wider KIM priorities and projects as required

**Person specification**:
As an Information Assurance Officer you'll have:

- An understanding of the different business requirements for protecting information and applies the appropriate standards and policies for handling, storing, disseminating, and preserving it
- Strong communication skills for working with stakeholders in related teams
- Experience of working in a knowledge and information management role or holds a relevant knowledge and information management qualification
- Good working knowledge of data protection and data security requirements
- Good working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams and Microsoft 365
