South East Smokefree Alliance Lead
Job Introduction
Are you passionate about reducing the harms caused by smoking and tobacco use, and do you have the expertise to lead and drive change across the South East? If so, then we want you to be a part of our dynamic team in East Sussex
As South East Smokefree Alliance Lead, you will use evidence and relationship building skills to influence and bring about coordinated action across the South East. You will work closely with key stakeholders to develop, drive and oversee a programme of tobacco-control activities and manage a dedicated budget to support its delivery. These activities will add value to the ongoing work of local tobacco teams and will accelerate collective efforts to reduce smoking rates, in line with the government’s 2030 smokefree ambition.
A hybrid working style has been assigned to this role, which allows work to be undertaken at home, as well as on site. The role will require in-person meetings at County Hall (Lewes) and occasional travel across the South East.
- Have experience of leading, embedding and evaluating health improvement initiatives
- Have strong leadership and influencing skills
- Have a track record of effective partnership working and engagement across organisations and sectors
- Have experience of effectively demonstrating the value of projects and securing funding or resource allocation
- Are self-motivated, proactive and innovative.
Interviews are scheduled to take place via Microsoft Teams on Monday 31 March 2025. If you are unavailable on this date let us know and we may be able to schedule an alternative date to interview you.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced public health professional to play a leading role in testing the delivery of regional approaches to tobacco control across the South East, drawing upon practice from other areas, and enabling learning outcomes to contribute towards a growing evidence base.
The Public Health at East Sussex is built on the foundations of empowerment and compassionate leadership and actively seeks to improve the knowledge and skills of team members and others within the wider council.
We offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment. More information can be found on our benefits page.
