**Purpose**
The Data Author will contribute to the creation, development and maintenance of product information to support the NBS products. They will be responsible for the authoring of product specifications and the links each product has with third party certifications. The success of this role relies upon creating high quality technical information that is valued by end users. The role involves providing customers with high levels of service and excellent attention to detail whilst delivering on time and within budget. The role involves working on products such as NBS Source Specification and BIM data.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Review and support with QA of products.
- Contribute to classification and scoping of a contract to define variants for purpose for specifications and BIM.
- Write product descriptions with SEO in mind.
- Document new contracts into workflow.
- Liaise with clients via video calls/telephone etc.
- Host WebExs with clients.
- Classification reviews of existing contracts to support renewals
- Drive consistency within the Partner platform.
- Work with technical authoring team when new clauses are required.
- Liaise with the wider teams including sales, customer success, contract leads and the external manufacturer effectively to maintain a smooth onboarding and delivery process.
- Document new contracts into the CRM tools and enabling tasks to trigger internal teams to start the onboarding process for the client.
- Support trainees with Classification.
- Participate in workshops for Data Author development.
- Develop guidance documentation to support authoring.
- Contribute to data author technical sessions.
- Work with the specification technical content and uniclass teams to add new classification clauses into the specification software (Chorus) for manufacturer product content to be assigned to.
**Skills & Experience**
- Precise, comprehensive and technically accurate written communication
- Ability to interpret manufacturers product information to a suitable form for delivery within NBS products and services
- Have a good knowledge of both spec and BIM to support and drive quality product authoring
- Ability to carry out research and deliver findings in a clear concise manner
- Ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent use of ICT hardware and software
- Commitment to continuous improvement and quality assurance
- Information modelling
- Ability to optimise product information content for search engines
- Knowledge of NBS products and services
- A strong interest in structured data
- Proven experience of technical writing and editing
- Excellent skills in working on own initiative or as part of a team
- Knowledge of the construction industry and building products is desirable
