**Description**:
This is a rare opportunity to join the International Affairs team, reporting to the Managing Editor and providing support to our Editorial Office and the Editorial Boards and help to promote the journal on social media.
International Affairs publishes articles on wide-ranging topics including climate change and energy transition, the future of democracy, delivering affordable healthcare, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, inclusive economic growth, and conflict, peace and stability. You will help us to communicate the ideas in the journal to our academic and policy practitioner readers.
We seek a highly organized and self-motivated individual with an interest in international relations and experience of communicating research in clear and engaging ways. You should have a commitment to accuracy and a positive approach to solving problems and dealing with queries.
International Affairs is the flagship journal of Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, an independent policy institute. The journal is published by Oxford University Press.
**Main duties and responsibilities**:
**Delivery**:
- Provide administrative support to the Editorial Office.
- Help to create day-to-day social media content for the journal.
- Support planning for events and conference attendance.
- Collect and report on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) data, such as the diversity of authors being published in the journal.
- Occasional copy-editing and assisting with commissioning short articles to help promote the journal.
**People**:
- First point of contact for queries from Chatham House members and subscribers.
- Support the Editorial Board and the International Advisory Board, including arranging meetings and taking minutes.
- Assist the authors/editorial team, which includes updating details and finding potential reviewers on administrative queries related to the ScholarOne online publishing submission platform.
- Coordinating team travel.
**Strategy**:
- Contribute to the creation of content marketing plans for journal articles.
- Assist with content creation for the journal, including, but not limited to, the International Affairs blog, reading lists and teasers.
**Requirements**:
**Essential**
- Good general knowledge of, and a curiosity about, international affairs.
- Experience of using social media to promote content.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal diplomatically with members, authors and researchers.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach to work and record-keeping.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload effectively.
**Desirable**:
- Experience of copy-editing.
- Experience of using Word templates for publications and writing/editing marketing materials.

**Salary**: £28,000 per annum
