Permanent position working Monday - Friday, no evenings or weekends
The successful applicant will be entitled to 24 days year Annual Leave plus all Bank Holidays

We are looking for a Driver Support worker with a D1 driving licence to work within our Day Opportunities service at the City Centre Hub, based at City College Peterborough. We are looking for individuals that have the enthusiasm and flexibility to support people with learning and physical disabilities and autism in a variety of settings to promote independence skills. This is a rewarding and satisfying role that would suit anyone looking for a new challenge.

You will be responsible for the safe transport of adults with disabilities to and from our service at the start and end of day; as well as supporting individuals in a range of activities on-site and in the local community. You will be required to provide relief cover as needed across our other Day Opportunity hubs. You will work alongside other team members to support individuals with all aspects of personal care, to ensure individuals are able to maximise independence.

You will work to promote a person-centred approach of independence and empowerment of people using services. You will work with supported people in order for them to achieve their full potential through goal-centred care plans, and proactive case monitoring. You will have an awareness of the challenges facing people with learning disabilities and autism and be able to support individuals with their physical, emotional, and behavioural needs. You will have effective inter-personal skills such as negotiation, assertiveness and verbal communication. You will have the ability to use initiative, prioritise, and liaise with a range of other professionals. You will have the ability to work as part of a team and alone on base or in the community. You will have good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with a variety of situations.
