We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Firefighters at the 423rd Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Alconbury, United Kingdom.
**What will be your primary role?**
You will be responsible for performing structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multi-storied buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities as well as hazard and risk assessment techniques in completing initial incident analysis, driving and operating firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers and aerial ladder trucks. As part of the role, you will perform rescue of personnel and a variety of first aid measures to alleviate further injury and prepare the victim(s) for transport to a medical facility. You will maintain firefighting equipment and fire station facilities and comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures performing work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. In addition, you will perform dispatching duties within the Fire Alarm and Communications Center (FACC) as directed, receiving emergency and routine calls, dispatching equipment to emergencies and making all notifications and requests. Your hours of work will be 192 hours over a 4-week period on an as rostered schedule (this will be working any 5 days out of 7) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policies. You will be required to pass and maintain a pre-employment Firefighter physical which must be renewed annually. The position requires your ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth. This position is located at RAF Alconbury, but the incumbent may be required to work at the RAF Molesworth Fire station when directed by management.
