The role of a Buyer is purchasing in line with company requirements, securing the best value goods and services whilst being mindful of where the products are coming from and ensuring the company sources ethically and sustainably.
**Main Tasks and Responsibilities**:
- Obtain quotes for goods and services requested via the requisition system.
- Carry out supplier selection, evaluate quotes and negotiate prices and deliveries.
- Upload all quotes and documents to the requisition system and send for approval.
- Raise and issue orders on approval of requisitions.
- Attach copies of all orders and acknowledgements to the requisition system to maintain paperless filing system.
- Manage and lead contracts Purchasing are responsible for.
- Assist and provide commercial assistance in contracts the requisitioner is responsible for managing.
- Check invoice variances.
**Skills Essential for the Role**:
- A CIPS qualification, or working towards it, a relevant degree or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of purchasing and administrative procedures.
- A professional telephone manner.
- Computer literacy with experience using Microsoft packages and in-house purchasing systems.
- To cope with a demanding, fast-paced environment under pressure from deadlines.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a busy team.
**Working Hours**:Monday to Friday 36.25 hours - Flexitime
**Salary Range**: up to £35,000pa
**Reporting to**:Purchasing & Stores Manager
