Position Responsibilities:
- Working as part of a design team delivering design from feasibility to completion and handover
- Liaising closely with other professionals, including, clients, mechanical engineers, contractors of in-house and external project teams
- Attending a range of project group and technical meetings
- Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
- Fully conversant in the use of computer-aided design (CAD), Trimble (Amtech), Dialux / Relux software and other resources to design the systems required for the project
- Preparing Electrical calculations, design, and equipment specifications
- Design of control panels for generators and auxiliaries, and integration with the client’s control system Detailed design of LV electrical solutions and specification of HV works Design of earthing and protection systems for power generating equipment
- Designing site-specific equipment as required
- Technical reviews of contractor’s proposals and on-site Inspections of the installation of building systems and maintenance and operating procedures
- Working in collaboration with the rest of the engineering team design engineers in the production of design and construction deliverables.
- Preparing new and modifying existing drawings including panel schematics, SLDs, BCDs and cable schedules
- Preparation of drawings for plant general arrangements, including power single line diagrams, P&IDs, and cable, instrument, and I/O schedules at detailed design level.
- Production of documentation, including control philosophies, telemetry configurations, tender scopes, and documentation (including particular electrical and ICA specifications).
- Deliver electrical engineering design, including managing design quality control processes and checking and reviewing the work of others.
- Review and acceptance of subcontractor designs.
- Attendance of factory and site acceptance tests provide technical advice and guidance.
- Close liaison with site installation contractors and commissioning engineers

- City & Guilds 2394 Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations
- City & Guilds 2395 Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
- City & Guilds 2382 - 18th Edition Wiring Requirements for Electrical Installations
- City & Guilds 2360 Part 1 & 2 (Or equivalent)
- Experience in design of electrical/control systems for industrial and commercial customers
- Knowledge of legislation, standards, safe working practices, and environmental best practice
- Desired Support the management of all HSE, technical and compliance risks associated with electrical systems
- Sound written and presentation skills as well as excellent general communications skills
- Hold a full valid driving license

- BEng/BSc Electrical Engineering (or other Engineering discipline)
- Chartered status
- Knowledge of machinery safety, electrical systems, BMS or metering would be an advantage

- To be successful in this role you will have an accredited degree or higher educational qualification and considerable experience in a similar role.
- Ideally chartered or working towards chartered engineer status with a suitable institution.
- You will need to be an excellent communicator who can articulate complicated issues between our clients and our highly skilled project teams.
- You will also need to show ambition and a willingness to learn whilst demonstrating a high-level diligence and organizational skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of your field, able to advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts electrical engineering issues.
- Able to write and deliver technical specifications, control philosophies and schedules.
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrate continuing maintenance of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions.
- A broad experience in LV distribution systems, motor control centers/control panels, electrical installation.
- Use of software package for conducting detailed cable calculations.

- Understanding of designer’s responsibilities under CDM
- Proven record in mentoring and developing junior staff in design.

Your contractual working hours are 37.5 hours per week to be worked between 9.00- and 17.00-hours Monday to Friday, at times appropriate to your role. In certain circumstances, it may be necessary to adjust or exceed the hours to ensure that your dutiesin accordance with the terms of the employment are properly performed.
