Grocery Buyer

**We have a new opportunity for an experienced Grocery Buyer to join the B&M team. This is a full-time, permanent position which is based at the Support Centre in Speke, Liverpool.**

It's an exciting time to join us here at B&M We are continuously opening new stores, have been recently added onto the FTSE 100 company list and are one of the fastest growing retailers in the UK.

We are looking for an experienced Buyer who is ambitious, driven and thrives in a fast paced environment. Reporting to the Head of Grocery, this role is responsible for a number of core grocery areas including canned meat and veg, pasta, rice, spreads, condiments and oils categories. As Buyer, you will source products and negotiate the best possible terms, to ensure you are building a strong commercial range for our growing portfolio of stores.

**In this role you will**:

- Source and manage the product range from multiple suppliers
- Introduce new products/review old products, whilst identifying gaps in the market and customer needs
- Manage all supplier negotiations including pack sizes, packaging, lead-times, promotions, cost prices and joint business plans
- Review and track sales out data, updating reports and helping the merchandiser forecast future sales
- Work closely with the merchandiser and suppliers to ensure products are delivered in the right quantities and on time
- Plan & Prepare for event sign off meetings with the Head of Grocery
- Monitor competitor prices & performance on a weekly basis and setting of retail prices
- Build & maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Work with the Buying Assistant to develop own brand artwork for approval
- Min 2 yrs. experience at Buyer level or above
- Core Grocery and commodity buying experience/knowledge would be an advantage but not essential
- Results orientated with a track record of achieving targets & delivering growth
- Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers including Far East
- Able to utilise data to fully understand customer behaviour and habits
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office in particular Excel
- A positive, motivated self-starter with a flexible approach
