Building Control Surveyor

Hampshire, United Kingdom Scantec Full time

An exciting new opportunity has been created for an experienced Building Control Surveyor on behalf of a leading Approved Inspector within their Southampton regional team. Typical coverage area: Salisbury, Southampton, New Forest, Bournemouth, Poole (remote based).

**The Role**

This post has been created due to a pending retirement of a long-serving Surveyor, meaning you will be walking into a well-developed area with no expectation to develop business. The workload includes plenty of high-end residential (e.g. Sandbanks), domestic and a good variety of small commercial projects. Although you will be home-based, you will be joining a highly supportive team with a strong management structure in place, so you will have no concern of feeling isolated.

This is an employer that focuses on quality over quantity, meaning you will not be bombarded with an unsustainable number of inspections (unlike many domestic focused AI’s), leaving sufficient time to ensure a good level of service for your clients. Typical working week would be 50% site inspections and 50% remote plan checking/project management.

**The Employer**

This Approved Inspector is one of the best employer’s in the industry offering significant investment in their staff not only via competitive remuneration packages but also via regular and high quality training (for more junior Surveyors you will be on a clear, tailored training programme from day 1). From a delivery perspective, they are extremely quality and compliance focused with stringent processes in place to ensure impeccable service and well-trained Surveyors.

**Typical Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations
- Undertaking plan checks submitted for Building Regulations approvals.
- Undertaking site visits, preparing site visit reports and witnessing tests.
- Attending client and design team meetings to give professional advice regarding building control work
- Day-to-day management of multiple projects

**Person Specification**:

- Proven relevant industry experience within a Building Control environment, carrying out plan checking and site inspections, and managing your own projects
- Full of part Membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE or CIOB
- Excellent communication skills
- Full UK Driving Licence and use of a car

**Key Benefits**:

- £250-£450/month Car Allowance
- 45p/mile fuel allowance in addition to above (HMRC guidelines)
- Life Insurance 4 x Salary
- Full private healthcare
- Performance related bonus
- Professional membership fees paid x2
- Completely flexible working hours, tailored to the individual

Scantec Personnel Limited is acting as an employment business and an employment agency. For contract or interim roles (and unless otherwise stated), all pay rates stated are on a Limited Company basis. Agency PAYE, Umbrella and CIS (if applicable) engagement models are also available, which will result in a different pay rate than advertised above.
