The individual will be able to spot opportunities, drive delivery, work collaboratively, quickly build reciprocal networks, get things done, and communicate our work and successes brilliantly.
This role is open only to applicants based in, or willing to relocate to Birmingham/Nottingham.
**Job description**:
You will support the Head of location and Director General Sponsor in Birmingham to make DBT in Birmingham a great place to work. This will mean identifying and coordinating influential business outreach opportunities, developing innovative programmes of work with colleagues, and ensuring that benefits are delivered. You will role model exemplar leadership and bring the office community to life for colleagues based in DBT’s Birmingham Hub.
- Developing and communicating the employee proposition for DBT staff at the hub, and supporting colleagues to have thriving, successful careers;
- Leading a regular drumbeat of communications both internally and externally - and regularly sharing developments and insights with other DBT offices;
- Using data to produce regular location-specific reports for the Head of location and Director General;
- Identifying and driving through to delivery opportunities to lead DBTs aims as part of the Places for Growth programme
- including, as a specific example, mapping the journey for direct Civil Service entry routes to identify barriers, blockers, and opportunities and to lead the action to move them out of the way (including ensuring that our induction processes are brilliant);
- Briefing, support and identifying opportunities for the Head of Location and Director General for business and stakeholder engagement in Darlington, and working across the government hub with other departments to maximise opportunities for the co-creation of programmes and policy;
- Working with the Places for Growth Team and other Head of locations teams to share best practice across DIT Places for Growth locations;
- Engaging effectively and credibly with stakeholders at all levels, including from the local business and schools/university/R&D community and partners - this will sometimes involve “out of hours” evening working to represent DBT;
- Briefing, support and coordination of VIP, business and other visits including playing an ambassadorial role and hosting visit programmes and activity.
**Person specification**:
**Essential criteria**
- Project & programmes experience will be assessed. e.g. Waterfall, Prince 2, Agile, Scrum.
- The ability to think strategically and seek insight and data from varied sources to spot risks, issues and opportunities;
- The ability to create, maintain and promote collaborative networks to get things done;
- The ability to plan, monitor and deliver projects and a programme of work on time and to devise a mechanism for regularly reporting progress in easily digestible formats;

We are looking for an inspirational, enthusiastic, committed leader who can drive activity, work collaboratively across the campus, build networks inside and outside of the department including with other place based OGDs. This role is all about getting things done and communicating our work and successes effectively.
You will be able to balance the ability to engage, connect with and collaborate with people and partners at all levels with a strong focus on delivery and getting things done - this will sometimes be through others and managing their work to deliver on time, but will also require you to roll up your own sleeves regularly.
You will need to use insight and information from colleagues, and others to suggest, plan for and deliver a dynamic programme of work that clearly directly contributes towards DBT and Levelling Up objectives.
