We are currently looking for an experienced electrical engineer from an aviation/aerospace background to join our busy operation at the Stansted site working within a team in modern facilities, where you will perform the following.
Maintain the organisation’s growth strategy by developing new capabilities and providing engineering solutions in a diverse/fast moving business environment, requiring a strong electrical & electronic bias, you must have a developed understanding of gaseoussystems, working across the electrical, compressed gases and safety equipment sector.
**Essential Responsibilities**:
- Reverse engineering of electrical testing protocols and component assembly supporting New Product Development (NPD)
- Design and/or upgrade of electrical test equipment within budget capable of meeting component test specification parameters.
- Write or work with specialist software writers to improve software code to for greater automation opportunities of electrical components during testing procedures
- Lead and/or support New Product Development (NPD) projects to deliver on time to budget further electrical component capability for the business
- Offer technical support, in the event of equipment breakdown and fault-finding support to the maintenance team and shop floor
- Leverage extensive knowledge to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
- Focus on continual development and implementation of lean management processes and operational excellence to further enhance workshop efficiencies
- Offer technical backup to other AEM Business Units when required
**Essential Experience**:
- Proven relevant experience; experience of building and designing test rigs.
**Essential Qualifications & Competencies**:
- Engineering degree - any related discipline (electrical / electronic
- Good knowledge of safe working practices (e.g. LOTO, working on live equipment) and associated EHS requirements
- Experience of investigating performance and quality issues using Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies; can anticipate problems before they arise.
- Understands the importance of following instructions closely, completing compliance documentation accurately and knows when to escalate issues appropriately.
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken), able to build relationship at all levels, communicate technical information to different audiences and navigate cultural differences.
- Good organisation skills with a good eye for detail, able to manage own workload to meet deadlines, even in a fast-paced and changeable environment.
- Good Knowledge of Inspection and testing electrical installations
- Good IT skills across MS Office and CAD, able to learn other company systems quickly
