**_Specialist study skills tutor - (Autism)_**

Cosmic People are a DSA registered provider of NMH support to students with disabilities in Higher Education.

We currently have a vacancy for a study skills specialist supporting students with autism on a one to one basis with their studies in higher education in accordance with their DSA Needs Assessment Report, course requirements and learning preferences.

As a specialist tutor you will provide one to one study skills and strategy support to students studying in higher education on the autism spectrum and will facilitate students through the development of strategies and guidance to enable them to overcome barriers to learning and become independent learners.

You will set clear standards and expectations for your sessions and the nature of the help you provide will be in line with the student course requirements and learning preferences and will include: time management, organisation, oral communication skills, planning, preparation, social awareness, amongst others.
- A relevant degree (PG Cert Autism) or Any Degree and a teaching qualification.
- (One of the teaching qualifications specified: Cert Ed, DELTA L7, DTTLS, PGCE, AFHEA, PGCHE, PGCAP)
- A willingness to invest in NAS training for the role if required.
- Experience supporting adults with autism.
- Have an understanding of academic standards and requirements of H.E.
- Have excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
- A good knowledge of the English language
- Be able to work flexibly to support student’s needs
- Maintain professional boundaries and respect confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Adhere to Academic codes of practice.
- Be capable and confident and able to work on your own initiative.
- Have problem solving skills, empathy, diplomacy and sensitivity
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate covering adults
- Be willing to embark on relevant CPD.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £30.00-£35.00 per hour
