We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team based at the Crewe site.Reporting to the Quality Manager, and working as part of a small team, you will provide support and advice to the Crewe Service Centre on the management, implementation, operation,monitoring and review of the Quality Management System in accordance with business and customer needs, ISO 9001 and any other relevant standards.
You will be responsible for leading on the manufacturing quality for the Crewe Service Centre to ensure that products and services meet the quality standards required to minimize quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction whilst ensuring that proceduresand processes are adhered to.
**Quality Engineer Main Responsibilities:**
Manufacturing Quality
- Drive proactive quality delivery via the implementation of APQP for new and existing products/processes through involvement in multi-disciplinary PFMEA and Control Plan activities.
- Support in the Product Part Approval Process or Design for Reliability submissions for product submissions and approval by appropriate customer personnel.
- Provide leadership to improve product quality through a preventive QA process.
- Support the Crewe Service Centre in the reactive quality process by supporting in the investigation and resolution of customer complaints, including Technical Investigation reports and with NCR/8D investigations and the management of 3Cs. Manage the loggingand reporting of customer complaints where they are Crewe Service Centre product specific.
- Analyse non-conformance data (minor/major rework, scrap, customer complaints etc.) to identify quality improvements through inspection and/or production processes. Establish action plans(s) and engage relevant departments in order to implement requiredimprovements. Collate details of root cause analysis, corrective actions and verification, to document and present performance improvements to management at Management Review and whenever required.
- Determine quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
- Support with the administration of the Warranty Process for the Crewe Service Centre.

Quality Management System Support
- To support the Quality Manager - Manufacturing in maintaining and continually improving the Unipart Rail Service Centres QMS system to the current BS EN ISO 9001 standard
- Implement and maintain a programme of internal Quality Audits for Crewe Service Centre in accordance with ISO 9001 and any other relevant standards or requirements.
- Ensure that an internal audit team is maintained and their competence kept up to date.
- Conduct internal and external audits i.e. of Suppliers, to ISO9001 or other relevant standards/requirements, where required.
- To log, raise, monitor and verify close out of corrective actions to pursue action closure in a timely manner and in accordance with company corrective action procedures
- Support the Quality Manager - Manufacturing in hosting audits performed by customers and other external bodies
- Communicate supplier performance information, audit findings and corrective action data to management in monthly reports, at Management Review and whenever required
- Assist with training in quality awareness

**Quality Engineer Main Requirements**:
Essential
- Level 3 Qualification in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering
- Internal auditor qualification (ISO 9001) (QMS Support)
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 2015
- Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent people management and influencing skills
- Highly motivated and able to work unsupervised in a high activity environment
- Competent and experience in developing, documenting and implementing a Quality Management System
- Pragmatic approach to problem solving

Desirable
- Lead auditor qualification (ISO 9001) (QMS Support)
- Knowledge of RISQS
- Knowledge of Network Rail’s Design For Reliability Standard
- Knowledge of ERP Systems (SAP)
