**What we do**
Source helps professional services firms understand what really matters when facing decisions of vital importance. With an unwavering focus, we are deeply rooted in the professional services sector, and provide firms with unprecedented insight into their clients’ worlds. We deliver clear-cut direction that gives firms and their leaders the confidence to act.
**Who we are**
We’re people who question the question, and we’re always on the lookout for people who do too. Does that sound like you?
We’re open and transparent in everything we do, and always have time for each other. We take responsibility and pride in our work, listen with respect, and we never let the team down. We often succeed individually, but thrive together.
We approach every new challenge we face with curiosity; being agile and adaptive to whatever comes our way. We’re always reflecting on our mistakes, looking for better outcomes, and learning all the time. And we always aim high—seizing every opportunity that comes our way.
**About the role**
Do you take joy in reading those little boxes in newspapers that summarise the nominees for the Booker, the teams for the next World Cup, or what’s hot at Paris Fashion Week? Did you fall in love with the succinct yet stylish footnote when you were writing your dissertation?
If it’s a yes to any or all of the above, then we’ve got the job for you. We’re looking for someone to draw on our proprietary data sources and conduct extensive desk-based research from publicly available information to support the work of different teams across our company. Our clients—predominantly professional services firms—approach us for a variety of projects, from sizing markets and analysing the data to understanding competitive landscapes and making recommendations. Your main responsibility will be to conduct desk-based research and use your judgement in order to support a variety of teams, on specific client projects, core research tasks and in maintaining some of our databases.
- ** Desk-based research**: From a project brief, you will structure and collate detailed qualitative and quantitative research into everything from firms and industries to sectors and trends. You will need to think critically about how your research can be delivered most effectively to its end user while exercising judgement on the accuracy and reliability of the information and show confidence when presenting your findings.
- **Writing commentary**: Looking at the results of your desk research in combination with our proprietary data, you will be asked to write commentary that summarises your findings and draws initial conclusions from the research. This could form part of a larger project to provide a solid basis for other members of the team to conduct further analysis, or to be delivered directly to our clients.
- **Maintaining our databases**:We underpin a lot of work with research and data that is stored in our databases. You will need to keep abreast of important changes in the sector, as well as tracking the political, economic, social, and technological changes that are likely to impact business. You will play a vital role in ensuring that our databases are both comprehensive and up-to-date.
**Who we are looking for**
You have an analytical and critical mind, able to sift through large amounts of information and identify what data is relevant based on the project brief and be able to bring your research to a logical conclusion.
You are meticulous and care about detail, but don’t get lost in it to the detriment of the big picture and what you’re trying to achieve. Your research will be the bedrock of our analysis, so we need you to be able to keep the quality of your work at a high standard in every aspect of your work.
You are a problem solver, comfortable with using figures and numerical data sources to develop a logical narrative by interrogating other sources of research.
You need to have a background in research, acquired either academically through a Masters’ degree (2:1 or above), a dissertation written as part of your finals, or from at least 18 months experience as a researcher in a professional capacity.
**What we offer**
Source might be smaller than your traditional consulting firm, but we think this is part of what makes us special. We aren’t hierarchical: If you’ve got a good idea, we’ll listen.
Being smaller and more agile allows us to have a strong focus on learning & development. In fact, we encourage all employees to dedicate 10% of their time to their professional and personal development. In support of this, we also allow two hours per week for employees to put their mental health first—the whole business switches off from technology, and uses the time to connect with one another, think deeply about the tasks they’re working on, and use the time in a way that promotes positive well-being.
We appreciate hard work: At the end of each year we split 1
