As a Food & Beverage Assistant you will support the hospitality functions at Powderham. You will be a key part of the Courtyard Café and other outlets, as well as providing support for the functions and weddings team as necessary. This means that you will get to enjoy the variety in Powderham’s busy seasonal programming, and you’ll be able to implement a range of skills and demonstrate responsibilities accordingly. Your main role will be to support our Food & Beverage Coordinator in ensuring smooth day-to-day running of the café and ensuring all food hygiene practises are being followed. As a multi-faceted operation, Powderham’s team is always seeking to collaborate and communicate effectively, and a commitment to the ethos and values of the wider business is essential to our success.

**Rate of Pay** £12 per hour

**Hours** A minimum of 30. Rising to 37.5 hours per week, during peak times.

**Contract Type** Permanent

**General Duties**
- Carrying out daily opening and closing procedures
- ensuring the Food Handlers guide is completed at the start and end of every shift.
- Supporting your team with daily tasks and checklists
- Preparing and serving hot drinks, cold drinks, sandwiches, hot food, cakes, and cream teas
- Handling cash and taking card payments using the electronic point of sale system
- Assisting with food preparation for group catering as required
- Maintaining a clean, positive, and welcoming environment for all visitors/ guests
- Assist visitors in a professional, efficient, and courteous manner.
- Inform the Food & Beverage Coordinator of anything that needs ordering, supporting with stock management as necessary.
- Ensure all items are labelled & stored correctly.
- At the end of each shift, ensure all necessary items are out to defrost for the following day.
- Ensure all out of date stock is thrown away at the end of each shift, and any waste is recorded.

**Security, Health, and Safety**:

- Act responsibly and always adhere to health and safety requirements.
- Follow cleaning protocol and protective measures to comply with COVID-19 guidelines.
- Respond, report, and record any accidents that occur/you are made aware of during your shift.
- Be always aware and vigilant to the risk of fire and theft in your area.
- Be aware of and adhere to legal requirements when serving alcohol.
- Be aware of and manage risks when cash handling.

**Job Type**: Permanent

Pay: £12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 37.5 per week
