Assistant Psychologist

We have vacancies for one full-time and one part-time (2.5 days per week) assistant psychologists to join our critical care psychology team at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Hospitals, initially on a fixed-term basis for up to 12 months.
Posts will be based at either Tunbridge Wells or Maidstone hospital, some travel between hospitals will be required.
Relevant clinical/research experience is highly desirable.
Excellent verbal/written communication, organisational and IT/research skills, ability to work both autonomously and in a team, and to meet project deadlines are essential.
Please note that due to the expected level of interest in the post, undergraduate applicants will not be considered.
The critical care psychology team offers assessment and support for critically ill patients and their families throughout their recovery from life-threatening or life-changing diagnosis, treatment or surgery, and consultation/teaching for staff working in intensive care/high dependency units
The post-holders will work under the direction and supervision of qualified psychologists with delivery of the service, for example, carrying out psychological screening or assessment using standardised measures, or providing psychoeducation/signposting to resources/support in the community. They will contribute to development of patient resources and teaching materials, and carry out service evaluation/research projects.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.
The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 760,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.
The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.
We employ more than 7,000 full and part-time staff in a huge range of clinical and non-clinical roles across both of our hospital sites.
Summary of key duties ( to be carried out under supervision by qualified clinical psychology staff):
Assist with carrying out psychological screening and assessments using standardised measures
Support development of patient psychoeducation materials
Maintain electronic patient databases, producing reports/graphs
Conduct literature searches and undertake service-related projects
Assist with development of materials required for teaching, research and clinical purposes
General
Organise own day-to-day tasks and work, under close supervision and by the lead consultant clinical psychologist/qualified psychologists, and working within limits of competences
Maintain accurate clinical records/databases
Follow professional guidelines and relevant policies and procedures Demonstrate a compassionate and conscientious approach to clinical and other work
Attend and use supervision appropriately demonstrating awareness of own level of experience/skill and limits of competencies
Attend team meetings and education talks within the service as required
Contribute to psychology service teaching/training of other professionals
