I am working closely with a small School in the London Borough of Southwark. The school is a complex mixed needs Secondary School with only 148 students aged between 11 and 19. The school aims to help students be able to communicate as fully as possible,develop as many self-help skills as possible and become independent and included in society. With their own private charity run within the school, the students are extremely supported. The charity that they run aim to provide the students with facilities andprovisions that are not provided by local authorities. As well as their own charity, the school have one full-time and one part-time Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapy once a week, a Family Worker, a full-time work experience co-ordinatorand strong links to CAHMS. We are looking for a qualified SEN Teacher.
- Have a strong educational background with the correct teaching qualifications
- Have experience working within a Secondary School setting
- Have experience, knowledge or training for working with children that have complex mixed needs (Some examples are: Complex Medical Needs, Downs Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD, Physical Disabilities and Speech, Language and Communication difficulties.)
- Hold a safeguarding qualification or be willing to complete a safeguarding course
ALL APPLICANTS MUST WILL REQUIRE THE APPROPRIATE QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING FOR THIS ROLE AS WELL AS THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK.
The role:
- You will be required to work general school hours (8:30am - 4:15pm)
- To promote a positive and engaging learning experience with the ability to adapt this suited to the needs of each individual student
- As an SEN Teacher, it will be your responsibility to support the children both inside and outside of their education and work with other members of staff to provide the best care for the pupils.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
