UX Research Intern

**About the Team**

Rapid7 is seeking a curious, resourceful, and motivated UX Research intern to help us create thoughtful end to end experiences that drive customer outcomes and help them achieve their cybersecurity goals. You will have the opportunity to work with our distributed team of talented UX designers, UI designers, UX writers, UX engineers and UX researchers.

**What is a UX Researcher?**

If you are studying in the field of design, psychology or social science, chances are you’ve had to consider, observe and understand peoples’ behavior, needs or motivations as part of your projects and coursework.

A UX Researcher uses a range of research methods to collect data, including surveys, interviews, field studies and analytics tools to learn more about users, helping to inform the product design process and ultimately, satisfy their needs.

**About the Role**

We are looking for a curious, motivated and creative thinker who can ask tough questions, challenge assumptions and help shape the direction of what we build and how we build it.

As a UX Research Intern you will help our teams understand our customers’ needs. You will help select the best research methods to uncover our customers needs, help to validate our design assumptions and synthesize research findings into actionable insights that help support design decisions.

You will become a champion for our users, helping to understand and solve their most complex cybersecurity problems.

**In this role, you will**:

- Develop comprehensive research plans that will empower you to use data and collect insights to support design decisions
- Collect and analyze user behavior through product analytics, surveys, interviews and experiments
- Work with designers, product managers and engineering teams to identify and translate complex technical and business requirements into research
- Communicate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentations
- Learn how researching our customer needs impacts product development

**The skills you’ll bring include**:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - to get to the heart of what we want to learn and help our teams understand the needs of our customers. You’re confident about your use of both written and spoken language and are used to explaining things in simpler terms
- Problem solving - you like to think big and discover new ways of doing things rather than accepting the status quo
- Experience working with survey tools, Google Analytics or other research tools and analytics products is beneficial but not essential
