Swansea, United Kingdom Swansea Bay University Health Board Full time

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Orthoptist to join our team of 8 Orthoptists based at Singleton Hospital. This is a Band 5, full time (37.5 hours weekly) permanent post which has arisen due to the current post holder being promoted. As a forward thinking team of 8 Orthoptists we have taken opportunities to develop the skills of our workforce and extend clinical practice. Many of our team have gained recognition in their field of expertise including botulinum toxin clinics and medical retina.

You will be based at the Orthoptic Department, Singleton Hospital, Swansea as part of the directorate of Women's Health and Ophthalmology working closely with 13 Consultant Ophthalmologists in the Ophthalmology team. You may be required to work at other Orthoptic units within the Health Board currently at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, Baglan, so the ability to travel between sites in a timely manner would be an advantage.

Duties will include a wide range of Orthoptic clinics including specialist paediatric and adult ocular motility clinics. You must be able to work as part of a team and show enthusiasm. Flexibility to adapt to different situations and work under pressure is essential.

Professional development is encouraged including participation in Orthoptic, Ophthalmology and multi-disciplinary audit. The team holds regular training events to ensure staff have opportunities to develop skills and network with colleagues.

The Orthoptic service is accredited for undergraduate Orthoptic students and participation in teaching students and other personnel is requested.

Applicants must hold a degree or diploma (or equivalent) in Orthoptics and state registration with the HCPC.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
