Bakery Production Supervisor

Cakesmiths, the UK's leading independent baker of innovative and award winning traybakes and cake are looking for a Production Supervisor to join their growing Bristol based team.

Specialising in the coffee shop sector, Cakesmiths have and continue to rapidly expand. Driven by a passion for hand baking the highest quality and best tasting traybakes and cakes on the market, we are looking for a Production Supervisor to become an integral part of our finishing team.

Day to day you will be:

- Running production lines, ensuring all lines meet their KPI targets, and that the bakery manager is made aware if targets are not going be met.
- Ensuring the smooth production flow of product throughout the process.
- Actively driving continuous improvement in your area.
- Maintaining a consistently high work ethic, allowing optimisation of line speeds at all times.
- Ensuring that all specs and traceability sheets are followed and filled out correctly as you run the product through the processing equipment.
- Carry out quality checks according to company procedure. Informing the Bakery Manager immediately or any issues regarding quality checks, performance to ensure food safety, wastage & efficiency, scanning issues or faults.
- Responsible for looking after all equipment, i.e. ensuring all equipment is well maintained and any problems are reported following company procedure.
- Carrying out effective changeovers to a high standard with minimum downtime generated.
- Ensuring that your work area is at the highest level of cleanliness, at all times, and actively promoting a clean-as-you-go policy.
- Ensuring that all documentation is completed fully and accurately.
- Ensuring that all guarding is in place before running lines and safety checks are carried out.
- Ensuring that the Bakery Manager and Technical Department are immediately informed of any potential quality issues.
- Ensuring that you report immediately any issues that could potentially cause an accident, or any actual accidents, to the Bakery Manager/Operations Manager.
- Ensuring the clean-as-you-go policy is always followed and maintained.
- Carrying out shift handover effectively to the next team with good information flow.
- Following manual handling procedures at all times.
- Carrying out corrective actions for line running when issues occur and managing this with the Team Leader.

In addition to the main responsibilities outlined, a basic competence level area is required for all of the below:

- Mixing batches of dough, batter, pastry & fillings strictly according to the recipe/specification and company standards.
- Palletising box/tray product according to the specification and transfer of completed pallets to the warehouse

EsSential Qualities:

- Previous experience of working within a bakery environment, ideally in a production line.
- Positive participation as part of a team, ideally as a team leader.
- Adapts quickly to change in a constructive and positive manner.
- Communicates clearly with colleagues and management in English, including written, reading and numeracy competency.
- Active participant in the solution process following reports, as necessary.

Desirable Qualities:

- Level 2: Foundation in Food Hygiene
- Manual handling experience
- PC Literacy - Intermediate use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
