**Description**:
Liaise with employers and young people to organise vocational work placements, organising, monitoring, assessing and evaluating students’ performance in the vocational setting in accordance with the principles of assessment of the Sector Skills Council, including assessing the suitability and safety of students work placements.

**This role is 18.5 hours a week and 52 weeks per year.**

**Main Responsibilities and Duties**:

1. Develop, maintain and update a database of placement providers, commercial and public sector vocational settings able to support students in the satisfaction of their required hours and assessment, establishing strong professional relationships with employers/ settings to develop employability challenges, mentoring, work experience and volunteering opportunities for learners.

2. Assess the placement and volunteering opportunities, including visits to providers on behalf of College/ Departmental staff and students, ensuring risk assessments are in place and satisfactory, liaising with study programme coordinators (SPC) on requirements for any mandatory course placements.

3. Develop and maintain records of the work experience undertaken by students following the requirements of the Funding agencies, liaising with SPCs and Curriculum Managers (CM) to develop sessions for students about the expectations of placements and the onus of responsibility. This will include liaising with and advising students on issues relating to their placement, e.g. dress code, activities, maintaining paperwork and supporting students in ensuring placement plans are in place and valid

4. Maintain the flow of communication with placement providers to ensure work experience documentation is fully explained and responses to queries are effectively managed, conducting surveys of relevant settings in regard to needs and willingness to provide work experience opportunities including benefits for both learners and employers, following College procedures in relation to work experience and volunteering placements, contributing to the development of relevant administrative systems, including safeguarding, H&S, risk assessment, communication with employers, curriculum and learners.

5. Register as a DBS counter-signatory and check completed forms, and assist students with the completion of DBS checks

6. Monitor and evaluate work experience or volunteering placements by receiving and collating written review sheets from students, employers and SPCs, providing this information to the line manager in an appropriate format and maintain an up to date knowledge of current work experience specifications documentation.

7. Undertake assessment of students in vocational settings in line with the requirement of the qualification being undertaken, completing the required documentation and recording results, liaising with the SPC and student following assessments/ visits, creating and maintaining a diary of visits to and assessments of students, liaising with placement providers in relation to timing, expectations and concessions required during visits/ assessments.

8. Represent the faculty /department at internal and external events in relation to vocational expectations and participate in MKC staff development and training schemes as appropriate, in order to maintain College and awarding body requirements with regards to CPD. This will include undertaking lead internal verifier duties when required by the faculty.
