We are looking to appoint a Trust Specialty Middle Grade doctor with broad training in Urological surgery who would also be on the Urology on call rota, currently operating as a 1 in 12.

The Trust has a dedicated hyper acute Stroke Unit, with a 24 hour/ 7 day a week service for patients within North West London. He / she will be responsible for delivering elective surgical services to the Brent, Harrow and Ealing community with operating lists and outpatient clinics at Northwick Park Hospital, Central Middlesex Hospital and Ealing Hospital.

The post holder will also have received wide training and experience in emergency surgery and the assessment and management of acute surgical disease. The post holder will be expected to provide cross cover with Urology consultants for theatre time, either participatory or supervisory. The post holder will not be expected to cover NPH whilst engaged in elective activities at other sites, or vice versa.

The post is for 12 months with possibility to become substantive.

The post holder will be expected to provide cross cover with Urology consultants for theatre time, either participatory or supervisory. The department currently employs a total of ten Urology consultants with nine middle grade doctors supporting the clinical workload and a Nurse Consultant role has been designed to work alongside this senior clinical team to support the plans for growth and innovation that all the clinicians within the department aspire to.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

**The post holder will required to take part in the following**:

- Participate with colleagues in the continuous provision of Urology services provided by the Trust
- Participate fully with the multidisciplinary team in the care of Urology inpatients and outpatients.
- To cooperate in the departments audit and research programme.
- To undertake regular weekly ward rounds for inpatients as part of the consultant on call team.
- To be expected to participate in the assessment of emergency patients in the accident and emergency department.
- To be expected to supervise and teach junior medical staff and students.
- Be expected to supervise and teach junior medical staff and students.
- Be expected to adhere to the Trusts’ Infection Prevention and Control Policies and make every effort to maintain high standards of infection control at all times thereby reducing the burden of all Healthcare Associated Infections including MRSA. In particular all staff have the following key responsibilities:

- Staff must observe stringent hand hygiene. Alcohol rub should be used on entry to and exit from all clinical areas. Hands should be washed before and after patient contact in all patients with diarrhoea. Alcohol hand-rub before and after patients contact may be used instead of hand washing in some clinical situations.
- Staff members have a duty to attend infection control training provided for them by the Trust as set in the infection control policy.
- Staff members who develop an infection that may be transmissible to patients have a duty to contact Occupational Health.
