Production Operator

Mylar Specialty Products is looking for a Production Operator.

Job Purpose:
The production support operator is a member of a small team which has the primary responsibility for the supply of coating solutions including trial products, gravure rolls, slurries and filters that will enable continuous running of production lines at the specification required without disruption and downtime. The team will also be responsible for finish to order (FTO) slitting across secondary assets as part of their primary duties, working on a rotation to ensure FTO is available throughout. The operator will also take a lead in all aspects of housekeeping within their specified working area whilst also providing refurbished equipment to the lines as and when they are required. The operator may also be called upon to work and/or provide support and cover in other site production areas when required.

Reports

The support operators will report to the Plant 5 Technical manager whilst also having direct relationships the shift supervisors, members of the shift operating team, maintenance technicians, quality assurance department, planning, new product teams and asset teams/technical personnel.

Principal Accountabilities:

- Maintain efficient production essential for a quality operation minimising expensive losses, taking prompt corrective actions whenever necessary.
- Run an effective batch process to ensure all lines are supplied with the correct coating type in sufficient amounts leading an efficient continuous process.
- Carry out cleaning and refurbishment of filters, gravure rolls and other equipment in a timely manner to ensure each line has spares available as required.
- Carry out slurry preparation and material handling requirements required to support polymer plant production and logistics.
- Carry out stock checks on raw materials and batches on a regular basis to ensure levels are maintained to avoid unnecessary delays to production.
- Ensure the product produced meets the quality specification and take corrective actions when required.
- Carry out refurbishment/replacement of pipework/pumps on a regular basis and the cleaning of tanks to avoid any potential for cross contamination.
- Transfer products to different areas of the plant/site as required including disposal of spent items in accordance with SEPA regulations.
- Carry out audits as per schedules set adhering to required legal standards
- Identify faulty equipment and initiate repairs through appropriate tradesman or by raising engineering job orders via the appropriate channels.
- Undertake all work safely, in compliance with plant rules and the site safety policy. Participate in safety training programmes and safety audits.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards by keeping work areas and equipment clean and in good order at all times.
- Have an effective line of communication with other plant personnel and line teams to ensure an efficient process in maintained at all times.
- To carry out duties associated with the production of slit film orders via finish to order in line with customer demand as identified by the Planning team.
- To carry out activities associated with the repack/relabel process.
- To provide support logistics as required for recovery operations.
- Provide basic support within operations on other areas of the plant/site if required.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills
- Previous knowledge/experience of a batch process system would be beneficial but is not essential as training will be provided.
- Ability to manage daily workload and plan ahead.
- Interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Experience and knowledge of safe working practices and systems.
- Previous FLT experience within a warehouse or factory environment would be advantageous but not essential.
