The Assistant Ambulance Practitioner (AAP) apprenticeship is an entry level role that allows you to learn at your own pace whilst carving out a career pathway that could see you qualifying as a paramedic in just a few short years, not only giving you a unique insight into the role, but will avoid costly university fees and even better, earning as you learn.
As an AAP you will deliver emergency and urgent care to a wide range of patients. Where appropriate, you will assess and treat patients at the point of contact or refer them onto another healthcare provider in conjunction with other ambulance clinicians. When necessary you will convey them to treatment centres, hospitals and emergency departments, according to their needs.
As an AAP apprentice you will undertake a 58 week Level 3 Ambulance Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard. This includes an initial 13 week training programme provided by our Clinical Education and Standards team based in Dockside (E16) or Brentford (TW8). This is then followed by a further 45 weeks of clinical practice, working on the road as part of an ambulance crew where, you will be supported by experienced clinicians and Tutors / Managers, whilst based at one of our ambulance stations across London.
On successful completion of your training, you will be supported to complete your Apprenticeship End Point Assessment and then receive:
Level 3 Diploma in Ambulance Emergency and Urgent Care Support
Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving
Apprenticeship Completion Certificate from the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education
Please note London Ambulance Service funds all training.

**Career Progression**:
Once employed by the London Ambulance Service as an Assistant Ambulance Practitioner, you will have the opportunity to progress in your career via our in-house training programme. In just over 4 years, you can then become a Newly Qualified Paramedic via our Paramedic Degree Apprenticeship:
Stage 1 - Level 3 Ambulance Support Worker Apprenticeship
Stage 2 - Level 4 Associate Ambulance Practitioner Apprenticeship
Stage 3 - Paramedic Degree Apprenticeship - leading to Newly Qualified Paramedic

**Starting salary**: £31,081 inclusive of Outer London High Cost Area Supplement (HCAS). Both of our Education Centres are based in Outer London. After training, salary will be £31,081 if posted Outer London, £31,944 if posted Inner London.

**Job Description**:
All applicants need to have a current B class driving licence, valid in the UK & hold Provisional C1 license status. (Allows you to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes)
**Please note you must hold**:
Relevant English & Maths Qualification, please refer to attached qualification list
**Clinical**: As directed by 999 Operations, respond as a crew to emergency calls and convey patients to treatment centres, hospitals or emergency departments as and when appropriate. This will involve using blue light driving skills as appropriate.
**Communication**: Maintain regular and appropriate communications with 999 Operations regarding updates and changes to personal and/or vehicle availability and movements.
**Professional and Standards**: Act at all times as an ambassador for the LAS by maintaining high standards of personal conduct reflecting service values.
