**Make a lasting impact on population health in Bury**

Bury Council is seeking a visionary and strategic Consultant in Public Health to lead on Healthcare Public Health and Health Protection. This is a pivotal leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape integrated health and care services, drive health improvement, and reduce inequalities across our borough.

**About the Role**

You will:

- Provide expert public health leadership to the council, NHS commissioners and providers, and other partners in Bury and across Greater Manchester.
- Drive evidence-based policy and strategy development across the council and its partners ensuring a focus on improving the health and wellbeing of people living in Bury and reducing health inequalities.
- Lead assurance for health protection including screening, immunisation, infection prevention and outbreak management.
- Lead research, evaluation, and capacity-building in public health intelligence.
- Mentor specialty registrars and support workforce development across the public health team, council, and wider system.
- Deputise for the Director of Public Health and contribute to corporate responsibilities.

**Key Relationships**

You’ll work closely with:

- Senior leaders across Bury Council and the NHS Integrated Care Board.
- External partners including UK Health Security Agency, Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, Greater ManchesterPublic Health Network, and third sector organisations.
- Community stakeholders to co-produce strategies and drive change.

**What We’re Looking For**

Essential qualifications and experience:

- Inclusion on the GMC/GDC Specialist Register or UK Public Health Register (UKPHR)
- Any public health speciality registrar applicants who are currently on the UK public health training programme and not yet on either the GMC, GDC or UKPHR specialist register must provide verifiable signed documentary evidence that they are within 6 months of gaining entry to a register at the date of interview.
- If an applicant is UK trained in Public Health, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. If an applicant is non-UK trained, they will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
- Applicants must meet minimum CPD requirements (i.e. be up to date) in accordance with Faculty of Public Health requirements or other recognised body.
- Membership of the Faculty of Public Health by examination, exemption or assessment.
- Masters in Public Health or equivalent.
- Proven leadership in public health practice and strategic service development.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
