Surfacing Chargehand

Nicol of Skene Ltd, a respected and long-established civil engineering and groundwork contractor based in Aberdeenshire, is seeking a dedicated **Surfacing Chargehand** to join our experienced team on a permanent, full-time basis.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the supervision of the surfacing teams to ensure works meet standards, comply with contract specification and prevent remedial actions
- Assist with the preparation and issue of job instructions and ensure daily point of work risk assessment & briefing records are completed correctly.
- Produce and deliver key job information to Line Manager
- Ensure that all statutory and contractual requirements are met timeously for all projects under your control
- Assist Quantity Surveyor/Sites Manager during site visits with measurements as and when required
- Assist in identifying works outside the contract scope and report to Management and Commercial team.
- Know, understand and follow the contract programme, and report on progress to Line Manager
- Know, understand and follow the contract Bill of Quantities, and report on progress to Line Manager
- Ensuring surfacing team produce high-quality finish and safe site practices
- Working as part of a team on both public and private sector contracts
**Requirements**:
- Previous supervisory experience in road surfacing or tarring operations preferred
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to health & safety standards
- HGV Licence (Class 2 or above**)** - _advantageous but not essential_
