Job Introduction
We are looking for a driven and passionate journalist to join the BBC Yorkshire team, working primarily towards the flagship regional TV programme Look North (Yorkshire). You’ll be a journalist with experience or interest in working in television production who can turn work to tight deadlines. Working in a multimedia newsroom you’ll be comfortable with switching to other platforms such as online / digital. The job requires someone who is curious, passionate about the patch, and wants to help reflect the region’s diversity with a focus on younger and underserved audiences. You’ll be working in a lively and friendly newsroom alongside online and radio journalists and digital video specialists The role is based in Leeds and involves shift work including late and weekend working.

**This is primarily a production role**

Main Responsibilities
You will be responsible for researching and writing stories, sourcing contributors and pictures, producing television and digital content and responding to breaking news. Working as part of a team, you’ll help to explain the big stories, get behind the headlines and tell the stories that will engage and inform our audience.

Other responsibilities include:

- Work as an integral part of the BBC Yorkshire team, working alongside producers, correspondents and reporters, as well as the wider BBC.
- Delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
- Work with a team to quickly and accurately report the news stories of the day - from breaking news to social issues.
- Produce original journalism by using a wide range of contacts and sources and identify innovative story ideas and treatments for an audiences on a variety of platforms.
- Come up with story ideas and treatments that help us represent different audiences in the region
- Work on news stories in the field and from the office, conduct interviews, attend media conferences and live events, and report from court.
- May be required to film and edit material for broadcast where appropriate.
- May include the production of live or recorded programmes.
- Use social and video to help your journalism travel further either on your own or working with our video specialists.
- A high standard of editorial judgment, writing ability and production skills based on existing broadcast journalism experience.
- Demonstrates a commitment to improving diversity in the BBC and understands how individual differences can benefit the BBC.
- Prioritises and plans activities taking into account all the relevant issues and factors such as deadlines and resources.
- Maximises opportunities offered by existing and emerging technologies to their fullest extent.
