**The Opportunity**:
The open position is in the FAIRCROWD II project within the REPHRAIN National Centre for Privacy, Harm Reduction and Adversarial influence Online. The project is led by Dr. Rik Sarkar. The project aims to develop private and decentralised machine learning algorithms for evaluating user data. The research can involve some combination of techniques from distributed machine learning, development, differential privacy, optimisation, algorithms etc.

**Knowledge, skills and experience**

**Essential**:

- PhD (or near completion) in computer science or related field.
- Confidence in understanding concepts in theoretical computer science.
- Knowledge of machine learning and data science..

**Desirable**:

- Knowledge of differential privacy, theoretical machine learning, algorithms, and experience in applied data science and data analytics.
- Proven expertise in the techniques needed to undertake the research in question.
- Demonstrated quality of research performance.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing..
