**About the Role**:
We are looking for a passionate, qualified **Therapeutic Art Worker** to join our team at Mary and Joseph House, a residential care home, rated Outstanding by CQC since 2016.
We are dedicated to providing compassionate care to men with a history of alcohol abuse, alcohol-related dementia and a mental health diagnosis's.
This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, where you will have the opportunity to create meaningful and therapeutic art-based interventions that foster mental, emotional, and social well-being for our residents.
This position will suit someone with excellent care values, who is kind and compassionate, creative and lives locally.
**Responsibilities**:
- Plan, organize, and facilitate art-based therapeutic activities, including craft groups, painting, sculpture, and other creative arts.
- Tailor activities to individual needs, interests, and abilities, while maintaining a person-cantered approach.
- Provide group and one-on-one art therapy sessions, encouraging self-expression, self-esteem, and emotional well-being.
- Develop and coordinate off-site art activities, outings, or exhibitions, ensuring safe and enriching experiences for all residents.
- Work closely with other team members, including care staff, to integrate art therapy into overall care plans.
- Document progress, track individual outcomes, and provide feedback for the wider care team.
- Promote social engagement and build a sense of community through group-based art initiatives.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment, helping residents to express themselves and engage in creative practices that can improve their quality of life.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- A degree in Fine Art, Art Therapy, or a related field (essential).
- Experience working in residential care, particularly with individuals dealing with addiction or dementia (preferred).
- Knowledge of art therapy principles and experience using art as a therapeutic tool.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals who may be experiencing cognitive decline or emotional challenges.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A genuine passion for helping people and enhancing their well-being through creative activities.
- Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach to care.
