Tax Accountant

Orka Financial Is currently working with a business based in Reading that is looking to recruit a Tax Accountant. The Tax Accountant is responsible for ensuring that the UK business is compliant with tax regulations and oversees tax compliance in all groupentities. Tasks cover a broad range from preparing tax calculations and correspondence for submission to authorities, to overseeing, advising on and quality assuring tax matters across the organisation.
Duties include,
- Prepare corporate and other tax submissions to authorities as required
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, reconciled to the finance system, undertaking partial exemption, business/non business and reverse charge adjustments
- Prepare regular reports analysing the impact of VAT on the Group
- Monitor VAT transactions, ensuring errors are rectified on a timely basis
- Work with finance staff across the organisation, provide advice and support on UK and international tax matters including VAT, withholding tax, corporation tax and employment tax
- Liaise with external tax advisers as required
- Develop and maintain tax procedures and guidance
- Undertake continuous review, making recommendations to streamline processes, increase automation, reduce risk of errors, and optimise tax efficiency
The role requires someone with at least 2 years’ experience working in tax environment and who has a thorough understanding of direct and indirect tax including UK VAT and experience of preparing complex VAT returns
The role is based in Reading and will be hybrid with 1-2 days office based on a weekly basis. The role is paying £45000 + a good pension, generous holiday allowance and a 35-hour working week.
