A “Digital Champion” is a Digital Volunteer.

Digital Champions offer free and practical help to anyone who would like support to develop their digital skills. This can range from basic word processing, video calling and using tablets, to accessing benefits or job searching online to computer gaming.

Digital Champions will be supported to run group, weekly drop in or 1-2-1 sessions for learners attending the library.

All sessions have a focus on supporting learners to develop essential digital skills such as
- Using devices and handling information,_
- Creating and editing,_
- Communicating,_
- Building confidence with transacting_
- And being safe and responsible online_

Training will be given to support in the delivery of these skills, however a basic skill set of one or more of the above skills would be advantageous to the role.

**Digital Champions will support learners to**:

- Find information and enjoy the internet safely,_
- Get familiar with different devices,_
- Keep connected to family and friends,_
- Improve their digital skills to help with employment opportunities,_
- Search for jobs,_
- Create CVs._
- And support learners to become more confident with all things digital._

**As a Digital Champions you will**
- Make a real difference to the lives of local people,
- Gain excellent experience to enhance a CV,

and Benefit from full training,

**What skills and abilities does a Digital Champion need?**
- Confidence in good basic digital skills,
- A Good communicator,
- An open, warm, and friendly manner,
- Patience,
- A Willingness to learn.

And a commitment to the role

Previous experience leading a group, or class would be advantageous, but is not an essential requirement.

**Location**

Various/Flexible throughout Renfrewshire, the project is currently based in Johnstone Library.

**Days & Times**

Currently the service operates during library opening hours - one to one appointments will be arranged based on volunteer availability.
