Apprentice Mechanic

**APPRENTICE PLANT & SMALL TOOLS MECHANIC**

**REQUIRED FOR OUR SKIPTON DEPOT**

**THE COMPANY**

SHC Hire has 9 sites throughout Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria and is recognised as a key regional player in the Tool and Plant Hire market. Along with our core activity of Tool and Plant hire the Company also hires a full range of powered access platforms and provides construction-based training courses.

**THE ROLE**

**Main/key responsibilities will be (under supervision)**:

- Assisting in the Workshop with the maintenance, service and checking of our equipment and customers own either in our workshop or on site
- Washing off equipment
- Keep the yard in good order
- Checking electrical equipment when required
- General checking and painting of scaffold and other equipment when required including Ad Hoc duties
- Assist with the load and unload of ours and customer vehicles

**Skills, Qualifications and Qualities required**:

- **Minimum of Level 4 Maths & English - ESSENTIAL**:

- Confident, enthusiastic, and practically minded
- Genuinely interested in machinery and mechanics
- Good communicator
- Eager to learn
- Smart and presentable

**Salary/Benefits**:

- **Hours of Work**: 7.30am until 4.30pm Monday to Friday (when 18 or over 7.30am until 5pm)
- **Starting Salary**: To be disussed
- **Holidays**: 20 days plus Bank Holidays
- **Sick Pay**: After qualifying period
- **Birthday Holiday**: After qualifying period
