Irlam Associates is a specialist in Logistics & Supply Chain recruitment, working nationally for a host high profile businesses within the industry.

My client is a very well-established, global 3PL operating some brilliant logistics contracts across the UK and we are proud to support in their search for a Transport Planning Clerk to join their team at their multi-user distribution site near Chatham.

You will be charged with coordination of transport activities across the shift playing a key role in providing exceptional service and ensuring effective planning and organisation of vehicles and effective planning and organisation of drivers to include covering holidays and DCPC courses.

Key Responsibilities:

- Driver & vehicle administration
- Load planning
- Efficient control of costs and planning
- Supporting route planners
- Driver debriefing
- 1st point of contact for drivers & customers
- Admin duties for delivery paperwork/documents ensuring accuracy
- Dealing with driver rota’s
- Customer service
- Reporting of vehicle defects & relevant compliance issues
- Ensuring driver compliance is adhered to
- Effectively interacting with other planners & company depots to fully utilise vehicle backloading and reduce empty running

Key Skills:

- Clear experience within a similar transport environment
- Ability to be organised to prioritise workload
- A sound knowledge of transport functions
- Excelle006Et communication and customer service skills
- Experience of TMS (Mandata would be an advantage)
- Ability to work under pressure and flexible in their approach
