**Job summary**:
The Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration (DCLPA) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Driving, Catering, Policing & Guarding and Personnel Administration.
The college is made up of 3 schools; Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA) predominantly based at Worthy Down; Defence School of Policing and Guarding (DSPG) in Southwick Park; and Defence School of Transport (DST) at Leconfield. The college headquarters is also based at Worthy Down - a newly built, modern campus in Hampshire.
DSLA is seeking a Course Designer to sit within the Training Support Wing within DSLA. You will work with our experienced and hard-working trainers to design highly effective training to ensure our people are effective in the diverse range of military and civilian roles in the areas of Logistics and Administration across defence.
The positions are advertised at 37 hours per week and whilst flexible working will be possible, attendance to the stated site will be required. This will initially be full time until the incumbent is trained, and then can be reviewed.

The Course Designer role at DSLA offers an exciting opportunity to work in a well established team and with our knowledgeable and enthusiastic training staff to develop the most effective training.
You will be responsible for leading the design of a number of training courses, ensuring that all resources and documentation are in place for them to be delivered effectively, efficiently and to a consistently high standard to meet the needs of Defence.
You will collaborate with senior managers aiding their decision making through the provision of advice on how best to deliver training requirements and align with training policy.
We are seeking applicants who are forward thinking, have initiative and are able to work proactively to achieve their outcomes. Due to the variety of ranks of Service Personnel (SP) and grades of Civil Servants (CS), applicants will need to be effective communicators and confident to develop trusting working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners.
**Person specification**:
Specific tasks the Course Designer is required to deliver:
- Manage the design of a full range of courses to include production, monitoring, maintenance and review of all elements of training and the associated documentation.
- Ensure that training and the use of the required resources are properly approved by the appropriate training authorities.
- Provide specialist consultation for establishments, departments and personnel as required to assist with design, production and implementation of courses ensuring the agreed training delivery target date is met.
- Liaise with appropriate stakeholders in order to produce and complete the Course Training Documentation and any blended learning solution.
- Liaise with Internal Validation to develop appropriate testing as required to validate training.
- Coordinate and control of the piloting of newly designed courses including the submission of any required amendments.
- Liaise with internal and external agencies as required
- Recommend any refinements / improvements that may be considered necessary or cost effective and co-ordinate and assess proposals to amend training.
It is advantageous, though not essential, if applicants:
