**Job Summary**

To deliver a full cleaning service within the practice, at the set times, in line with extant policies and procedures, ensuring a clean environment for patient care, in accordance with the NHS national Specification of Cleaning Standards.

**Main duties**
The following are the core responsibilities of the cleaner. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

- Ensure where applicable areas are: o Vacuumed o Damp mopped o Damp dusted o Glass and mirrors cleaned o Tiled areas washed o Painted surfaces cleaned
- Safely empty and subsequently clean clinical and general waste bins, ensuring waste is placed in the appropriate receptacle
- Adhere to the periodic cleaning schedule, ensuring all activities are completed
- Use cleaning equipment in a safe and effective manner, adhering to manufacturer’s instructions
- Replenish all consumable items (hand towels, toilet roll etc.) as required
- Always adhere to the colour coding system for cleaning equipment, seeking appropriate guidance if required
- Ensure all cleaning materials are stored in a safe and secure manner, adhering to COSHH,
- H&S and other legislative acts and guidance
- As required, undertake legionella flushing of systems within the practice
- Report any faulty equipment to management in a timely manner
- Report any defects found during the cleaning process to management in a timely manner

**Security**

The security of the practice is the responsibility of all personnel. Staff must ensure they are always vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately to the manager. Under no circumstances are staff to share the codes for the door locks to anyone and are to ensure that restricted areas remain effectively secured.

Cleaning staff are responsible (where applicable) for opening and closing the building (setting alarm as instructed) and reporting any issues with the setting of the alarm to management immediately.

- effectively managing one’s own time, workload and resources.

Recognize the importance of effective communication to the smooth running of the practice.

This job description is neither exhaustive nor exclusive and will be reviewed periodically in conjunction with the post holder. The post holder is required to carry out any reasonable duties that may be requested by the Partners and/or the Business Manager and/or the

Assistant Manager. The post holder will be required to adhere to any practice requirements, or stipulations arising within a legislative context from a recognised and legitimate third party.
