Waking Night Children's Residential Care Worker
3 days ago
At Aspire Care Cumbria, we believe that all children and young people deserve a happy, positive, nurturing childhood that can support them to reach their full potential. Sadly many of the children and young people who we provide care for, have not experienced this. We therefore feel that it is vital they receive therapeutic parenting surrounded by warmth, empathy and understanding, alongside boundaries and fair expectations. Our children and young people are at the centre of everything we do and everything we are.
We are looking for individuals that also live by these values, to come and work with us as therapeutic residential care workers.
The Job Role:
You will be expected to provide care to our vulnerable children and young people.
The waking night role will involve you interacting with our young people to ensure their safety and wellbeing, possibly providing a listening ear, supporting them to sleep or accompanying them should they be unable to sleep. Other members of staff will be on site should any additional assistance be needed.
You will need to be able to:
- work in a positive, calm, nurturing, empathic and empowering way
- promote positive relationships with significant others
- encourage self esteem
- see behaviour as communication and have a curiosity around what the child may be trying to communicate.
Main Duties:
At the start of each shift, you will have a detailed handover from day staff, that will outline exactly what any outstanding tasks are. Should you require it, there is always management support available. You will be expected to follow and adapt your practice in line with our policies and procedures, all necessary paperwork will need to be completed before the end of each shift. At the end of each shift a detailed handover to the day staff will be expected.
What Experience Will You Need?
- Experience of working with children and young people who have suffered trauma.
- A genuine desire to improve the outcomes for children and young people.
- An ability to develop and maintain relationships with children and young people.
