Healthcare Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Health Care Support Worker to join our team of healthcare professionals in the NHS. As a Senior Health Care Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing excellent care and support to patients who are undergoing Assisted Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (AAPD) treatments in a variety of NHS settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and patients' homes. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse and perform tasks such as setting up and maintaining dialysis equipment, assisting with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort during treatment.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical and therapeutic care, within the clinical and home setting using set protocols and within scope of Senior Health Care Support Worker remit.
- Organise and prioritise time effectively.
- Provide high quality patient care, appropriate to patient need. Be responsible for a group of patients as part of a programme of agreed development.
- Take personal responsibility for ensuring that patients are treated with courtesy at all times, the individual needs of the patients are respected, and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Promote and value the rights, responsibilities and diversity of people
Renal Specific Responsibilities
- Ability to use specialist technical equipment required within the clinical area/ home setting, including haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis machines as appropriate to patient care.
- Provide specialist renal advice and support to patients on the ward/ in the home setting with both chronic and acute illness.
- Understand and follow specialist renal protocols and policies for peritoneal dialysis, transplantation, haemodialysis and blood borne viruses, ensuring all patients are safely managed.
