**Base Location**: Ashton Old Library, Old Street, Ashton under-Lyne
**Assessment Date**: 11th August 2025
**The Role**
To coordinate and link in with special guardian carers and children on a special guardianship orders to oversee intensive and early support to the families experiencing multiple and complex issues, where children and young people are in crisis of a placement breakdown.
In addition, to support kinship carers that are currently fostering where there are assessed needs. To take a whole family approach to intervention and assessment and work across services to effect real change for special guardians and children in crisis and at risk of breakdown. Take a lead role in working with special guardians and their children on special guardianship orders, to build positive relationships and be first port of call for the special guardians to enable continued positive relationships and limit risk of breakdown to secure long term stability for children and young people.
**About You**
You will hold a professional level 3 qualification in a relevant field (teacher, social work, health visitor, early years, youth work, community work).
- Safeguarding and Child Protection
- Working with cared for children
- Knowledge of special guardianship orders
- Mental Health and Substance Misuse
- Domestic Abuse
- Neglect
- Developmental trauma and how this impacts on the child and carers
- Attachment and how this this impacts on the child and carers
- Family time and any issues around this ensuring the family time meets the need of the child
- Confliction resolution
- Mediation
- The importance of Life Story work and later life letters
- To maintain accurate, quality and timely records on the child’s file.
