Trainee Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist
1 week ago
**Job Overview**:
Dorset Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service is excited to offer two new clinical training posts for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. These posts are funded by Health Education England.
We are looking for trainees with curiosity about psychoanalytic thinking, and outward looking countenance, and a commitment to improving the lives of infants, children, young people and their families.
This is a very exciting time to be joining Dorset CAMHs as we are undergoing a process of transformation and redesign to embed a family first philosophy and strengthen relationships with our partner agencies to create a collaborative and systemic culture of health and wellbeing for children and families.
The funding for these training posts extends up to six years, with the potential to cover two years of pre-clinical and four years of clinical training. This includes the tuition fees for two years of pre-clinical training, the 'observation course' which is a pre-requisite for acceptance to the clinical doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
- the four-year clinical training.
Potential applicants for these training posts are encouraged to have an informal conversation with us before applying.
Applicants for the full six-years of training will be expected to remain in their current employment for the first pre-clinical year. In the second pre-clinical year they will take up posts as Assistant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists (Band 6). Those that have already completed the first year of pre-clinical learning will be in a position to commence the Assistant post.
Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy training requires long distance travel and a commitment to being regularly away from home. This is because personal psychoanalysis and the clinical training will take place in London.
