**_Job Title_** : Loans Officer - (Level 2)

**_Reporting to_** : Supervisor / Management (Loans Department)

**_Main Purpose: - _**

To maintain an effective and efficient member services to Credit Union members regarding loans and to ensure they are offered the highest level of member service and to ensure they have the opportunity to avail of all Newry Credit Union products:
**DUTIES INVOLVE**:

- Co-ordinating appointments and walk in business in supervisors’ absence
- Identifying and interpreting member needs
- Updating all member personal information
- Processing initial member assessment forms (Member’s history with Credit Union), identifying band and further action needed
- Assessing and processing SOL loans up to the value of £10,000
- Processing affordability assessments for Sol loans over £10,000 and paying out these higher SOL loans with approval by a loan’s supervisor, Manager, officers committee, credit committee or board
- Discussing different loan repayments with members and providing advice on loans
- Carrying out Experian searches, analysing search and updating on member accounts
- Analysing member income/bank statements/accounts and updating correctly on member accounts
- Carrying out affordability assessments in accordance with loan band
- Approving loans up to loans officer mandate
- Paying out loans already approved by another loans officer, officers committee, credit committee or board
- Carrying out instructions and following conditions placed on approved loans
- Processing guarantor forms and information
- Processing guarantor affordability assessments in line with band requirements
- Paying out loans with guarantor approved
- Processing forms for ECCU insurance
- Administrative Duties:

- Setting up and amending direct debits
- Setting up benefit payments and Automatic Internal Transfers
- Opening sub accounts o EFT’s
- Processing change of name/address
- Processing permanent authority, nominations and authority for third
- Party to negotiate cheques
- Maintaining office supplies
- Filing/shredding
- Cashier Duties: o Receiving money from members
- Posting transactions and issuing computerized receipts
- Processing share withdrawals
- Cash and Cheque handling
- End of day balancing
- Providing effective telephone communication to members management and staff
- Attending weekly meetings and training sessions as required
- Dealing with queries about member accounts
- Ensure all Financial, Operational Compliance and Risk procedures are adhered to.
- Other duties: Any other duty which may be required on occasion

**Person Specification**

**Essential Criteria**:
**Qualification**:A level qualification or equivalent

5 GCSE’s including Mathematics and English Language or equivalent

**Experience**:Minimum 2 years’ personal lending experience in a Regulated Financial Institution

**Competence**: Ability to use Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Spreadsheets and PowerPoint

Point and a willingness to train in additional IT skills as and when required

Ability to handle a wide range of activities and prioritise these effectively

Good organisational and time management skills

Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines

Ability to remain calm and steady under pressure
