Senior Library Assistant B4, 30 hours, Oxford Health Libraries: Whiteleaf/Warneford/Littlemore Libraries (Oxford/Aylesbury)
An exciting opportunity is now available to join a successful and supportive Oxford Health Library Team
It is expected that the postholder will be required to work at Whiteleaf Library (Aylesbury) and Warneford Library (Oxford) and may have some requirement to work at Littlemore Library (Oxford). Core hours are specified but further flexibility is available outside these hours.
Home working is also part of these roles, by agreement.
Our Senior Library Assistants will provide high quality paraprofessional support across several work streams, enabling all library users to make best use of our services via physical and virtual means.

**Briefly, the main duties include**:
- Acting as first point of contact for enquiries, and managing the virtual and physical enquiries
desk
- Managing and maintaining membership systems and processes.
- Providing evidence search support for literature searching services
- Providing basic library training introducing new users to the services
- Managing and maintaining the library’s electronic document supply and interlibrary loan service
- Ensuring book stock is controlled and well maintained
- Supporting Open Athens administration, including basic troubleshooting
- Supporting current awareness services
- Helping to ensure the physical library environment is safe and well-presented.

You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of training and enquiry handling. You will also have a working knowledge of a broad range of library procedures.
Excellent IT skills are a pre-requisite, both in MS Office software and in library-related systems. An understanding of copyright and data protection is also required.
There will be an overriding requirement to work to the staffing rota.
Strong customer service skills and an understanding of the NHS are essential. Experience of working in a healthcare library environment would be an advantage. This post would suit a well-organised and enthusiastic individual looking to develop experience of all aspects of library work in an environment which is always interesting and varied.
