Transport Planner

**Job Summary/Introduction**:
Working for an established freight provider with businesses in the UK and Continental Europe. As an Transport Planner you will report into the Road Transport Manager on a daily basis and focus on the following key areas:

- Ensure that all road movements are carried out in conjunction with customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate communication with Customers, and Contract Managers regarding progress of jobs, container numbers, demur-rage claims

**Your job responsibilities will be**:

- Ensure that drivers are advised of specific customer and jobs
- Ensure containers from out based depots are set up to cover nights/followings day’s business.
- Ensure all legislative requirements are met Adhere to a shift roster system
- Ensure that all road movements are carried out in conjunction with customer requirements, predicting potential risks with regular contact with drivers in regards to late runners.
- Maintain accurate communication with Customers, Contract Managers and Customer Services regarding progress of jobs, container numbers, and in particular, late runners in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain regular contact with Contract Managers to keep up to date with customer demands.
- Ensure customers are notified promptly and dealt with politely and courteously.
- Resolve customer problems as a matter of priority.
- Compliance and ADR knowledge Be able to work effectively in a close team.
- Have the ability to work alone as well as within the team.
- Have excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
- Have a pro-active attitude to all issues to ensuring resolutions are achieved.
- Be able to make decisions under pressure and to a tight timescale.
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
- Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
- Be highly motivated.
- Be PC literate in Word Excel and Outlook.
- Should demonstrate the drive and desire to progress.
- Must be flexible in approach to work and shift patterns.
