Primary Care Network
This is an exciting opportunity for two new roles as part of the ARRS (additional roles reimbursement scheme) initiative, working directly within distinct Primary Care Networks.
The post holder will provide timely specialist mental health assessment, risk assessment, and brief intervention to prevent deterioration in mental health preventing the need for secondary mental health services. The post holder will also provide decision support for primary care colleagues to ensure that service users with complex mental health needs access the correct service and intervention to meet their needs.
The introduction of these roles which are specifically aligned to PCN’s will contribute to the ambition and work that has started as part of the Community Mental Health Transformation. This is a national improvement program designed to improve the experience and timely access to mental health services for patients in their local communities.
One role will support the Leeds Student Medical Practice PCN by providing timely mental health advice and guidance to GPs and other practice colleagues. The post-holder will deliver timely brief interventions for patients in this practice, often requiring skills and expertise around emotional dysregulation, self-harm, eating disorders and other complex mental health presentations.
The other role involves providing mental health support and expertise to a small number of surgeries within a socially deprived area of Leeds with diverse needs. This PCN has high numbers of patients with serious mental illness (SMI) and language interpretation needs. The post-holder will need to work flexibly to support GPs and PCN colleagues to meet the often-complex mental health needs within this population; therefore, a good understanding of SMI, health inequalities and diversity will be advantageous.
