Site Operative

Fortis IBA (South East) are looking to appoint a Site Operative at our new state of the art Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) Processing Facility based at Ridham (Kent). Site working hours will be: - 07.00-17.00- Monday to Friday (To include 1 hour unpaid lunch break) - 07.00-13.00-Saturday - You may also have to work Bank Holidays if required. **The role** To safely and efficiently operate and support activities involved with the IBA processing Facility: - Complying with all site and company H&S policies and procedures. - Reporting all accidents and incidents as well as near misses and safety improvements to specified members of the Fortis team. - Undertaking and recording designated safety pre-operational checks. - Monitoring the >50mm fraction of IBA passing the workstation and removing any ferrous and non-ferrous metal observed. Any metal observed is to be manually removed and dropped into the appropriate chutes that are adjacent to the work station - During periods of planned or unplanned downtime, assisting the Process Plant Operator with plant inspection and clean down activities (eg conveyer belt scrape down, screen cleaning, general housekeeping.) The primary location for the picking activity is a purpose built, air conditioned cabin which contains the >50mm conveyer belt and three metal chutes for collection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Supporting activities as outlined above will take place within and around the IBA processing facility **Key Responsibilities**: Ensure all processes and procedures are followed correctly at all time whilst maintaining the highest standard in safe operations. **Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality** - Report all damage, accidents or near misses to Site Management. - Ensure all safety and operational procedures are followed at all times including wearing appropriate PPE. - Ensure safety of those operating in your area and challenge anyone who might be doing something wrong. - Support risk assessments and other safety activity within your area. - Report any noncompliance with regard to Health, Safety and the Environment to the Site Manager. - Ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times **Operations** - Pick and segregate materials from picking line as required. - Carry out general housekeeping and site maintenance duties around the site as instructed. - Follow defined procedures and safe systems of work for all activities on site. - Support all operational activities on site as instructed by management including picking, housekeeping and general duties. **Commercial and Administration** - Ensure records are accurately maintained as requested by site Management. **People** - Work co-operatively with team members supporting all activities on site. - Give guidance and support to new team members. - Act in a polite and professional manner to all customers and work colleagues. **Generic Accountabilities** - All employees are responsible for safe behaviour and adhering to company rules, policies and procedures. - All Employees are responsible for their actions on site (you could be prosecuted for serious breach of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation) - All employees are expected to participate in and contribute to the Company’s drive for Continuous Improvement. - The above list is not exhaustive and you will be required to undertake other duties within your capability to support the needs of the business. **The successful applicant**: Experience of IBA processing operations, waste management or aggregate processing operations is desirable but not essential Experience and licenses for Telehandler, scissor lift, 360 excavator, loading shovel is again a benefit (in terms of career development) but not an essential requirement of this role. **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent **Benefits**: - Life insurance - On-site parking Schedule: - 10 hour shift - Day shift - Monday to Friday - Overtime - Weekend availability Work Location: One location
