**Role Overview**: Institutional Credit Management (“ICM”) is seeking a experienced Associate to join their Leveraged Finance Underwriting team to support the continued growth of the franchise. Leveraged Finance Underwriting are a key stakeholder in the execution and monitoring of Leveraged Finance transactions, working closely with key partner teams - most notably Leverage Finance - to ensure the smooth delivery of complex transactions for Citi’s corporate and private equity clients worldwide. As EMEA Leveraged Underwriting Associate, you will focuses primarily on providing expert credit analysis and negotiation of critical legal terms with external counterparties, as well as acting as a conduit between Origination and Risk functions - ensuring seamless execution of transactions. **EMEA Leveraged Underwriting Associate Responsibilities**: - Provide high quality analytical support to Bankers, while overseeing junior banking team across LPG’s core functions: (1) Leveraged Finance transaction due diligence, credit analysis and credit approval; (2) developing an independent view on the business opportunity; (3) portfolio management and early problem recognition; (4) global leveraged lending related projects and strategic initiatives - Act as key LPG point of contact on deal teams, working closely with Leverage Finance, Investment Banking, Sponsor Coverage, Corporate Banking, Legal and Risk. - Evaluate and gain a strong understanding of clients' business model, financial performance and key credit drivers across various industries as part of transactions and ongoing credit monitoring responsibilities. - Demonstrate sound quality control over the materials and analysis utilized in transaction approval process and ensure that materials are produced in accordance with Citi internal policy and procedures; ensure that critical information driving credit approval decisions are being assessed and presented appropriately, with applicable controls maintained and followed. - Support junior and senior Analysts with their credit training, acting as a mentor - Analyze underlying business rationale/strategy for deals that are conducted through creating both Business and portfolio reviews for Senior Management on the global risks for the portfolio as well as to highlight key trends in the market - Research and develop robust understanding of the fundamentals of the key industry trends and risk issues and develop the ability to succinctly convey his/her thoughts and opinions to Risk Managers and Bankers - Responsible for monitoring news and events pertaining to Citi’s leveraged lending clients as well as providing regular updates to Bankers. **Qualifications**: - Experience of credit analysis, due diligence, origination or corporate banking related transactions, ideally within Leveraged Finance - Self-starter and ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Team player with strong work ethic who also works well with others at all levels - Strong writing, analytical, quantitative communication, and presentation skills - Leadership skills and experience in coaching and mentoring Analysts - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Ability to break down large amounts of data into concise, easy to understand formats **Education**: - Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
