Bartender & Waiting on assistant... Ye Olde Rock Inn is looking for a Part Time Bartender that also has some waiting on experience to join our Front of House team. Ye Olde Rock Inn is a family owned and run pub. As a countryside pub we are more food focused with the weekends being incredibly busy with Hikers, Walkers, Climbers as well as Tourists and locals having a ride out. We pride ourselves in being a friendly and happy place to work. What will be involved in this job? This is a job of two halves but with a focus on serving behind the bar. This will mean interacting with customers as well as making drinks orders given to you by a member of waiting on staff and processing bill payments for those customers wishing to pay at the bar. You must have proven experience working behind the bar with a solid knowledge base regarding glassware and legal measures for each type of drink. Hot drinks are done in front of the customer using an espresso machine, prior experience is good although we can offer additional training on our machine. Keeping the bar area clean and tidy at all times as well as fridges stocked is essential. Having a general understanding of how a pub cellar works is also important i.e. changing a barrel without supervision and knowing the rules of dos and don'ts regarding cask ale. The secondary half of your job should waiting on staff need extra assistance will be as a runner/server, where you may be tasked with meeting and greeting customers upon entry with professionalism and a smile and then showing them a table should they wish to have food. Table service is offered as standard here so you may be tasked in taking drink and food orders from the customers table as well as taking drinks from the bar and meals from the kitchen and bring empties back although this will only be if we are incredibly busy or short staffed that shift. What are we looking for? Someone that is professional with a caring attitude, a "no time to stand and gossip there is plenty to do" mentality will get you a long way here. Someone that strives for perfection and can spot when something needs doing without being constantly told. A good memory is important and if you are a fast learner even better. Cleanliness is essential behind a bar and we expect it to be kept clean and tidy at all times, cleaning as you go is always best. If you have good banter or enjoy conversing with people then that can be a bonus. Being available evenings and weekends is a must for this job given the nature of hospitality. What are Ye Olde Rock Inn's opening times? We open for food 12pm to 8.30pm Wednesday to Saturday & 12pm to 8pm on Sunday for food but the bar is open until 11pm. Please note we do open on Bank Holidays and everyone is expected to be available to work on such days.
