This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Children, Schools and Families Quality & Improvement Team supporting the Special Educational Needs and Disability service. We are passionate about promoting high aspirations and expectations for children and young people and we are now seeking a like-minded individual to join our team to support our engagement with parents and carers and children and young people in the East Riding with SEND (0-25 years).
The successful post holder will lead and manage engagement across the SEND partnership, ensuring there is regular two-way feedback between key stakeholders, including parents and carers and the local area SEND partnership. Working closely with colleagues on the Local Offer, Children’s Participation team and ensuring that the voice of the children and young people and parents/carers is evident in the design of services, policy and strategy. Specifically there will be regular communication and partnership working with the Parent Carer Forum (PCF). This is an exciting time to be joining us on our journey of development and improvement and be part of a team that is ambitious and aspiring to provide outstanding services to the children and young people of East Riding of Yorkshire and their families.
We are looking for a dedicated, organised, and resilient individual with excellent communication skills to join our team. You will join a busy, fast paced team working closely with Education Health Care Officers (EHCO’s), educational settings, professionals, children and young people and parents and carers and the PCF to ensure the effective delivery of statutory timescales and achieve strong and effective partnership working with all stakeholders.
This role requires the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships therefore good people skills are essential. You will act with a degree of autonomy and be expected to take a proactive approach to problem solving and contributing towards service improvement, informed by the desire to help achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND in East Riding.
You will be educated to A Level or equivalent, preferably in a related field, and have experience of working with children, young people with SEND and their families. You will also have experience of working with families in relation to difficult / sensitive issues. Ideally you will have a sound working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2015, in particular chapter 9, or be willing in acquire this upon starting in the role.
